Description from Mapping Maryland: "Sir Robert Dudley, an expatriate Englishman living in Italy, produced the first marine atlas to use the Mercator projection for the basis of its maps. Taken from Dudley's rare first edition of his 1646 "Dell Arcano de Mare", this version's title cartouche lacks the page number found in the 1661 second printing."
