Abstract
Legendary Mother Marco Blahnik talks about growing up in Cherry Hill and South Baltimore in an accepting, interfaith family. He explains how ballroom gave him an opportunity to pursue costume design and travel the country. He describes the history of the House of Blahnik and the community work the house undertakes as an incorporated nonprofit organization, including HIV/STD education and providing scholarships. He talks about walking the butch queen European runway category and the family relationships he formed in ballroom. This oral history was recorded as part of the Peabody Ballroom Experience, a public humanities collaboration between Johns Hopkins University and the performance-based culture known as ballroom.
