Description
Unlike other manuscript books in this collection, this particular item does not contain any food recipes. Instead, it contains instructions for making dyes, paints, sewing clothing essentials such as night caps, and other projects that a successful housekeeper would need proficiency in. There are also home remedies to cure and asthma, consumption, an distemper in dogs. There are also some diversions on astronomy and a nicely rendered alphabet. The instructions were compiled by Mary Clapham of Knaresbro, Yorkshire.
