Abstract
Many businesses are choosing to go green with the hope of instilling social responsibility within the culture of their employees. Studies have shown various benefits for both the employee and the organization implementing these policies in the form of greater employee engagement, talent retention, improving brand image and even reducing operational costs. Despite policies set in place inside the workplace, research has identified an “attitude-behavior gap” that demonstrates people having a concern with environmental matters but not taking active measures to mitigate the issue. This study aims to understand if the implementation of carbon neutral initiatives in the workplace promote pro-environmental behaviors in employees’ daily work lives? This study is in coordination with an Arizona local non-profit who has chosen to implement green policies in the workplace. Moreover, this study will gain insights through the exploration of the organizations current green initiatives, GHG emissions, employee surveys and interviews. This data is then used to identify related evidence that supports behavior changes as a result of work-place initiatives.
